Participants will engage in training needed to take their students on the water to conduct stream and pond assessments. Participants will learn how to gather Physical, Chemical and Biological data of a stream and pond. Participants will learn how water assessment is an excellent indicator of water quality. Physical assessment includes: pebble count, streambank conditions, characteristics, and channel shape. Chemical includes: temperature, dissolved 02, pH, chloride, odor, and color. Biological: High/Middle/Low water quality Benthic macroinvertebrates, learning to use a collection net, understanding microhabitats and all things water. After completing the session participants will be encouraged to join us on the Spokane River, where their newly learned skills are put to work in real world data gathering and stream assessment.
