As educators, we are tasked with “fitting” in a thousand content related learning goals and it feels overwhelming. When we mull over our standard books and get to planning our lessons, science can easily be the FIRST thing to be eliminated for the sake of doing the “more critical” literacy and math standards. This can often lead us to feel guilty about skipping the stuff that truly engages students and fills our classrooms with joy. Can prioritizing STEAM result in stronger readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators? Let’s play with integration planning strategies that will bring more joy, engagement, and SCIENCE experiences into your classrooms. In this session, I will share my story and experiences, as well as super practical strategies, that have led to amazing student achievement in science, as well as a ton of messy, engaging, and inspiring science experiences.
