Are young students really capable of doing the work of Building Thinking Classrooms? What does an elementary thinking classroom even look like? Where do I even start? This session is perfect for you if any of these questions have crossed your mind or if you have never even heard of a thinking classroom and want to know more. Participants will see and hear examples of an elementary thinking classroom in action. They will be offered a compass that points them in the direction for how to implement the first three practices from Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics by Peter Liljedahl and be given helpful resources to get them started. They will leave this session with hope that they, too, can build an elementary thinking classroom. (An electronic device will be helpful.)
