In this session teachers will experience Rough-Draft Talk to see how it encourages students to share mathematics authority by including all class members in well-structured discourse. Participants will explore how sharing strategies and viewing each other as resources elevates students’ status by explicitly expanding on what counts as valuable contributions. Participants will reflect on how Rough-draft Talk gives students permission to not know the answer, make mistakes, and revise their thinking process. They will leave this session with one more tool that promotes a culture that honors mistakes as a valuable part of the learning process.
