Flatwater kayaking is a wonderful way to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors. Experience paddling a kayak to explore the marshland ecosystem and the importance to bird habitat. As we watch for birds and other animals among the cattails and rushes, you will will gain an understanding of the benefits of this important ecosystem. Participants will wander up Mica Creek and then along the bay shoreline to Mica Boater’s Park before heading back to the launch site. Bring binoculars, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and drinks. Also snacks if you like. Long sleeve shirt is advisable as well as gardening type gloves for paddling. Boat Launch site is about 25 minute drive from Coeur d’Alene High School going south on Highway 95 from town to Kidd Island Rd and then to Tall Pines Rd. Participants will need to sign a liability waiver and come prepared to paddle a one person kayak.
